The joy of first harvests

June signals the end of spring and the beginning of summer. And, this year, we are being blessed with days and days of wonderful warm, sunny weather. Yes, it means carefully tending our newly planted vegetables - watering, weeding and watching for pests and problems.


But the joy of first harvests. Picked today we have baby beetroot, the first golf ball-sized kohl rabi, broad beans, coriander, the last of an early sowing of rocket, a few sprigs of sprouting broccoli, gooseberries and alpine strawberries,
