Spring at last

What a difference a few weeks make. Since the last newsletter, the grass is growing apace, the trees are bursting into leaf and the weeds are springing up on every patch of bare soil.

May is just about the busiest month in the garden. It’s when we remove overwintering sprouting broccoli, dig in green manures and replant with, for example, peas, beans, beetroot and lettuce. It's also when we most of the sowing and planting for summer crops and earth up early potatoes.


We're also enjoying annual flowers which are beginning to add splashes of colour in hanging baskets.

On sunny days the garden is a peaceful haven for enjoying a flask of tea or even a barbecue.
